Using Negative Words
Do not use two negative words in a clause. NO, NOBODY, NOTHING cannot be used with NOT, NEVER, HARDLY, SELDOM
Nobody could see me NOT Nobody couldn't see me
Nobody ever asks me for my opinion NOT never asks me
After negative words, we usually use ANY, ANYONE, ANYTHING, etc NOT SOME, SOMEONE, SOMETHING etc
I hadn't seen anyone for over a week
Nobody is doing anything to help them
As a general rule, use NOBODY/NOTHING etc with an affirmatove verb instead of EVERYBODY/EVERYTHING
None of the children are at school today
If we say "All the children aren't at school" This means that some of the children are at school, but not all of them
When a sentence begins with Never, Hardly, Seldom, Rarely, Scarecely, Nowhere, No Sooner, Not only, Only when, By no means, Under no circumstances, The subject and the auxiliairy verb change places.
No sooner than we arrived, had it begun to rain
When there is no auxiliairy verb, use DO
Rarely do you meet such a polite children nowadays
THAT'S EVERYTHING
